It was hard not to notice Princess Kate's necklace when she visited the brand-new V&A East Storehouse on Tuesday. The future Queen accessorised her navy Alexander McQueen suit with a Laura Lombardi gold chain. The statement necklace has chunky circular links and a toggle clasp, and is a great way to elevate an outfit.

The Laura Lombardi necklace is made from recycled, 14-carat gold-plated brass. Its large, sculptural links are a chunky take on a timeless gold chain design. While the necklace is a statement piece that can be worn on its own, it would also work well stacked with other necklaces. You can buy the design directly from the Laura Lombardi website for £141.

If you've fallen in love with Princess Kate's exact necklace, the good news is it’s still in stock. But if you’re not keen on spending over £100, we’ve also found some stylish, purse-friendly alternatives from brands loved by the royals, including Boden.

This chunky gold-toned necklace from British brand Boden is another statement piece with oversized interlocking links and a classic T-bar clasp.

Princess Kate is also a fan of the brand, having been spotted wearing its clothes several times (including an affordable linen shirt.)

She’s best known for sporting its sophisticated clothing; this standout accessory proves the label’s accessories are just as chic.

This gold-toned chain link necklace from Abbott Lyon isn’t as chunky as Princess Kate’s necklace, though it can still serve as a statement piece in a necklace stack. The chain is made from oval links and T-bar fastening. It can be customised with a pendant from the brand, or it can be combined with other necklaces from the Abbott Lyon collection.

The design is also available in a silver finish.

This statement chain necklace by Laura Lombardi is crafted from 14-carat brass and finished with a high shine. It’s currently on sale with a whopping £113 saving, down from £185 to £72.

If you like the chunkier chain look but prefer a dainty necklace, Monica Vinader’s Alta necklace has a similar chain-link design but on a smaller scale. It is crafted from 18-carat recycled gold vermeil and has delicate rectangular links, perfect for wearing on its own or layering with other pieces.

Currently part of the brand’s end-of-season sale, you can save £45.50 on the necklace. Though it's not the same necklace as Princess Kate's, both she and Meghan Markle are fans of the Monica Vinader brand, and have been seen wearing pieces from the British label’s collection.
